Lead Pipeline TD

Cinesite is looking for a Pipeline TD for some exciting new projects. The Pipeline TD works alongside the Pipeline Supervisor to design, develop and implement new tools and processes to continuously improve the pipeline for all running productions. The ideal candidate would have experience developing tools for production, have extensive experience with DCC applications, and know their place within the production. They would have experience of animation workflows as the position requires strong communication skills with the ability to design high quality, robust, and easy to maintain code and tools.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Pipeline Supervisor planning tools to solve production issues
  • Collaborate with other Pipeline TD’s to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to more junior members of pipeline team
  • Review code and offer constructive feedback
  • Attend department meetings as required
  • Meet agreed upon targets and deadlines set by supervisor and coordinator
  • Communicate with pipeline supervisor, coordinator and other relevant heads of department when investigating issues and offering realistic resolution time lines.

Skills & Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in VFX or Animation is required
  • Previous experience as a Pipeline TD required
  • Extensive knowledge of Maya and Python is required
  • Experience with PyQT or PySide
  • Knowledge of up-to-date Production Technology/IT methods, practices, and trends
  • Experience with Shotgun, and Tractor is a plus
  • Must have a strong understanding of scheduling, project management, and working under strict deadlines
  • Experience with Linux and developing within it
  • Ability to collaborate and offer solutions with great problem-solving skills
  • Experience with large-scale production pipelines, including render farm management, for VFX or animation desired
  • Knowledge of Maya Python/API/ Maya C++ API is a plus
  • Knowledge of Katana is an advantage
  • Degree in Computing Science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BC residents preferred, but not required
