Our Rigging team

At Cinesite Vancouver, the rigging department is responsible for creating the controls and their associated deformations for others to effectively animate characters and props. In Rigging we look for good technical knowledge with the understanding of the creative requirements of the creations. As well as working collaboratively as a team, we work closely with the design, animation, modeling and CFX departments.

What you will be doing

  • Train new hires on the pipeline and workflows
  • Review artists’ work and provide constructive and respectful feedback
  • Support artists to develop professionally and provide opportunities for discussion and feedback
  • Manage employee performance, development and employee relations and communicate with HR
  • Write technical documentation for others to use and refer to
  • Ensure all work is quality-checked before moving shots and assets up the pipeline
  • Track, assign and manage shot deadlines with production
  • Collaborate with other departments for optimization, solving issues and ensuring continuity
  • Communicate technical and creative notes to all levels
  • Communicate to all in a respectful manner regardless of level and set a positive example for your team

What you bring to the team

  • Broad knowledge for problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Efficient time management and strong understanding of resource management
  • Proficient in Maya and Gitkraken
  • Expert in setting up rigs for optimal performance and efficient animation output
  • Expert at establishing methods of working with skeletons, modeling geometry and weighting that meet the project’s creative objectives
  • Expert in creating 3D Character rigs for skeletal motion systems and deformations
  • Excellent eye for detail and continuity
  • In depth knowledge of developing and maintaining clean procedural rig components
  • Broad knowledge of creating rigs for props, bodies, faces, sculpting correctives, modular development and prototyping
