Systems Administrator

Cinesite Vancouver is currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join our IT department! 

Reporting to the Head of IT, the Systems Administrator is responsible for deploying and maintaining various aspects of the studio’s infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, and workstations. We use a mixed Linux and Windows environment, primarily using Linux.  In addition, this role provides technical support to the desktop support team as well as users on the floor.   • Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot various IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, VMs, and workstations
  • Provide technical support to users and the desktop support team as required
  • Ensure the studio security policies are deployed and maintained throughout the infrastructure
  • Perform monthly maintenance on infrastructure to ensure all system and security patches are up to date
  • Perform peer reviews of changes made to infrastructure to ensure they adhere to the studio’s security policies and best practices
  • Analyze system logs and identify issues within systems, and proactively come up with solutions
  • Plan and execute hardware and software upgrade and updates
  • Participate in IT projects
  • Highlight inefficiencies, propose and implement solutions

Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous experience with system administration or similar role
  • Excellent working knowledge of Linux (CentOS) and Windows
  • Experience with Active Directory, FreeIPA, LDAP, SSSD, Kerberos
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (ie. VMWare/Docker)
  • Familiarity with systems orchestration, provisioning and config management services (ie. Cobbler/Puppet/Salt/Ansible)
  • Familiarity with cloud resource usage (ie. GCP/AWS/Azure)
  • Working knowledge of DCC packages (e.g. Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Photoshop)
  • Experience administering various storage and network technologies
  • PCoIP and VoIP experience a benefit
  • Strong communication skills to be able to interact with all levels of the business, keeping them updated as required
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt as required
  • Good organizational skills 
  • Diploma or degree in computer science or computer engineering is an asset
  • Experience working in the Visual Effects, Animation or Games industry
